School may be out for summer, but we know that many of you are taking or teaching classes over the break. Happily, library resources continue to be available for students and faculty whether you’re continuing your academic pursuits in Athens, traveling the world or something in between. Students who are registered for classes in summer or fall will continue to have access to library resources and services. Online information resources like article databases and electronic books are accessible via log in with your OHIO ID.
The following is a list of useful info for those of you in summer courses or who need access to books or other information resources:
- If you have books checked out and need to return them, drop them off at the nearest OhioLINK library. You can also have request that a book from Alden or another OhioLINK library be sent to the OhioLINK library nearest you for pick up (learn how in this video by eLearning Librarian Hilary Bussell).
- Alden Library will be open for summer hours beginning Monday, May 13. Full hours details are on our website. Library staff will be available to answer questions during the hours that the 2nd floor is open. We’re accessible by phone, email and chat for those of you off campus for the summer.
- If your class requires research, be sure to find the Subject Guide for your major where you’ll find the resources recommended by your Subject Librarian. You can also get in touch with your Subject Librarian for research assistance.
- If you’re not taking class, but are looking for something fun to read over break, check ALICE or OhioLINK for copies of the title you want to read. If you don’t see a copy in either place, keep an eye out for the SearchOhio button in OhioLINK which will connect you to books in a group of public libraries across the state (see how in this video by Reference & Instruction Librarian Jessica Hagman).
Let us know if we can help you find anything and we hope you have an amazing summer.
