Libraries moving from Refworks to Zotero

zoteroDue to the high cost and limited use of  the Refworks, Ohio University Libraries will not be renewing our subscription this year.  Access to Refworks for Ohio University faculty, staff, and students will cease in June 2014.

Ohio University Libraries recommends that users export their Refworks content to one of the freely available citation managers such as Zotero, Mendeley, or Flow as soon as possible in order to avoid losing access to their citations. Alden Library will be supporting Zotero for Athens Campus users.

Zotero is a robust and free citation manager whose features compare very well to Refworks. Zotero can be downloaded as either an extension for the Firefox browser, or as a stand-alone client for Windows and Mac.  Bookmarklets are available for the Chrome and Safari browsers.

Alden Library has a basic guide to get you started with Zotero.  Library staff  will be creating guides and videos, as well as holding workshops, to help users transition from Refworks to Zotero.  Alden Librarians will be holding workshops on Zotero after Spring Break. In the meantime, should you have any questions, please contact your subject librarian.
