50 Years of African Studies at Ohio University (Spring 2014 Program)
In 2014 Ohio University is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its African Studies program. For many years our own Ohio University Press has maintained an extensive program of publications on African Studies, as can be seen in its 2014 catalog.
As part of this celebration, the Libraries are sponsoring a presentation by Gillian Berchowitz, the Director of the Ohio University Press and the Swallow Press imprint. Ms Berchowitz’s presentation is entitled “Ohio University Press and African Studies Publishing: A 50-Year Journey.” She will trace Ohio University’s publishing program from 1964 to the present from the publication of the Papers in International Studies published by the Center of African Studies to the cutting-edge book series that the press has developed in collaboration with the African Studies Center and is known for internationally. It will also cover the culture of publishing at key periods in the English-speaking regions of Africa.
Here are the details about her presentation:
- Date: Wednesday, February 19, 2014
- Time: 2 pm
- Place: Friends of the Library Room (Alden 319)
The presentation is open to everyone. Light refreshments will be available.
