The Seasons of the Academic Year

To what extent is a first year student's arrival on campus the same now as it was in 1954?

The fall season means things like buying books at the bookstores, football games and game programs, and Homecoming. Bookstores are still a madhouse for brief intervals each term.
The artwork on this 1942 game program is reminiscent of an earlier era.
A rainy Homecomin' parade is a bummer!
Meanwhile, the members of the class of 1888 had returned to campus before homecomings were an annual fall occurrence.
