![]() William CombeEnglish writer William Combe (1741-1823), also known as "Count Combe," was made famous by the satire of The Diaboliad (1776). Despite spending most of his life past the year 1780 in debtors’ prison, Combe wrote text for illustrated books and pamphlets. Combe also wrote three Tours of Dr. Syntax. |
