Thomas Hood![]() English poet Thomas Hood (1799-1845) was the subeditor for London Magazine from 1821 to 1823. With his brother-in-law, Hood wrote Odes and Addresses to Great People. Hood edited the Comic Annuals from 1830 to 1842. Hood was also the editor of the Gem in 1829. Hood’s serious works include “The Bridge of Sighs” and The Plea of the Midsummer Fairies. Hood started Hood’s Magazine in 1844. Hood is also know for Whims and Oddities, the novel Tylney Hall, the “comic poem” Miss Kilmansegg, and Whimsicalities. "Thomas Hood."
