Georges Simenon

Belgian writer Georges Simenon (1903-1989) is known for his works in the French language. His approximately 500 novels, however, have been translated into other languages, and reach readers through their storytelling tones and “‘universal vocabulary.’” Simenon’s Maigret series, which has been related to the Sherlock Holmes series of Arthur Conan Doyle. feature the character Inspector Maigret,

Simenon also wrote L'Homme qui regardait passer les trains (The Man Who Watched the Trains Go By), Pedigree, Les Volets verts (The Heart of a Man), Le Petit saint (The Little Saint), and Intimate Memoirs. Simenon used at least 12 pseudonyms throughout his life.

Simenon is known for his dabbling in the psychological and minute, yet compelling, aspects of human lives.
