Provision for Delivery and Network Access

For Collections to be Mounted by the Institution
MARC records, Dublin Core, EAD formatted finding aids, and introductory material will be delivered to the Library of Congress by FTP, or tape, or whatever method LC prefers. The Ohio University Libraries, Archives and Special Collections Dept. has maintained a website since 1996 without a problem. OhioLINK has a very robust server and support at the Ohio Supercomputer Center. As stated earlier, the Project Manager is experienced as she worked on a previous LC/Ameritech grant. A copy of the proposal, sample images, and sample narrative text will be found at <http://www.library.ohiou.edu/libinfo/depts/archives/lc/>.

Preservation and Maintenance of Files
The Ohio University Libraries, Archives and Special Collections and OhioLINK make a commitment to maintain the website and to migrate when necessary the digital files and background material to whatever standards evolve.

Plan Of Work
The project is scheduled to be completed in a 12 month period. The Project Technician search will be conducted prior to the start date, and the worker hired to begin on day one of the grant period. The first month will be devoted to ramp-up: training and tweaking work flow procedures. Months 2-6 will be devoted to scanning and cataloging the pictorial items, printed matter, and maps. Manuscript material will also be begun. Months 7- 12 will complete the manuscript material, edit the textual output, establish and complete the website. Derivatives will be created. Records will be sent to LC, and the OhioLINK database will be thoroughly tested. Please see attached Duties chart for further information on which staff will perform which tasks. Please see attached resumes and earlier discussion of staff qualifications. The University will meet indirect costs and the Project Director and Project Specialist wages and benefits.
