Project
Development
We would like to thank the library staff at Western Michigan University. Their
Searchpath Library Tutorial served as the templete for our initial version of BOLT.
We borrowed heavily from them in the construction of our own library and research tutorial. Searchpath's
Open Publication License allowed us this opportunity.

A big buckeye thank you for Mark Mace, who provided the php and javascript
expertise to make many of BOLT's features run smoothly. Among many other things, Mark's php wizardry allowed us to
give students the option of emailing quiz results to their professors.
A special thanks are also due to Kristi Wellman and Laura
Schmidt, both of whom provided invaluable assistance in developing all the original images in BOLT. Kristi and Laura
both gave the insights of undergraduate students at Ohio University. The web tutorial committee gave great help:
Tim Smith, with his great experience as web manager; Renee Geary,
in coordinating student input and focus groups; Andrew Stuart in advice and managing the glossary terms.
Thanks to Sherri
Saines for testing BOLT with her Spring 2003 UC105 distance education class; also thanks to Dr. Norma Pecora and her
Winter
2003 TCOM 202 class for editing and content suggestions. Thanks to Emily Marcus and Peggy Satler, both for content
and
graphics advice, and for letting us "borrow" Kristi after she left the Reference Department for the greener pastures
of Alden Library's
Instructional Media and Technology Services (IMTS).
Many of the graphics came from the Texas Online Library Tutorial (TILT), others were created by Elaine
Anderson Jayne and Judith Arnold at Western Michigan University, or come from free clip art collections
such as the Action-Links
Clip Art Archive and the Northern
Illinois University images. The photo of Martin Luther King, Jr. in
Module 6 is courtesy of WMU Archives & Regional History Collections.
