- African Americans in Southeastern Ohio: Numerous links to other sites
- Athens County @ Ohio GenWeb:Contains several dozen links to websites relating to Athens County genealogy
- Athens County Historical Society and Museum: Information about this organization located at 65 N. Court St., Athens. Also has links for to other resources.
- Cyndi’s List: A huge compilation of links on all aspects of genealogical research. The sections on African-American and Native American research might be useful places to get started.
Census Searching
A transcription of the 1880 US Census is available to the general public from Family Search. The US Census for other years is available to Ohio University through another database called HeritageQuest Online. HeritageQuest also contains digitized versions of more than 22,000 books on family and local history.
