How do I insert symbols, foreign language diacritics, or special characters in Word 7?

In Word 7 first you want to select the insert tab.  This will bring up a list of items that you can insert into your document.



Next on the right hand side of the screen there is a button that opens up a symbol menu. Click this button. You can then select "More Symbols..." to bring up a list of symbols you can insert.  After you insert a symbol it will be added to the display of 20 most recent symbols used.
