Can't Find Your Article?

Sometimes the article you are looking for simply isn't available either online or on the shelves of the library. What to do then?

Getting an Electronic Copy from the Annex

If the journal volume you need is located in the Library Annex, you can request that a copy of the article be scanned and delivered electronically or that the actual volume be brought back from the Annex for you to use.

For this example, let's say you're looking for volume 4 (1980) of the journal Administration in Social Work. Here's the ALICE screen for this journal:

Periodical holdings screen in ALICE
  1. Click on this button to have the actual volume of the journal brought back from the Annex. For more info, see below
  2. This part of the screen summarizes the volumes that are in the Library Annex
  3. This part lists each individual volume kept in the Annex (or elsewhere)
To get an electronic copy of the atrticle, login to ILLiad, our Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery system, and provide the information requested. In order to fill out the form in ILLiad, you will need complete citation information for the article:

  1. author of the article
  2. title of the article
  3. title of the periodical in which the article was published
  4. volume and issue numbers of the article
  5. date of publication
  6. pages

Requesting the Journal from the Library Annex

To get the paper copy of the article click on the Request button button on the ALICE page and complete the form. The volume you need will be delivered from the Annex to the Alden Circulation Desk (or other library location that you specify), usually within 24 hours.

Journal Not Anywhere at Ohio University

If Ohio University simply doesn't have the journal you need in printed copy, online, or in microform, you should request it via ILLiad. You will need the same citation information as outlined above.
