America's Newspapers

America's Newspapers includes the complete full-text content of local and regional news, including community events, schools, politics, government policies, cultural activities, local companies, state industries, and people in the community from more than 700 newspapers. Paid advertisements are excluded. Dates of coverage vary on a title-by-title basis, and are usually as recent as yesterday's edition.

Lexis Nexis

Lexis Nexis Academic is another great source for newspaper articles. It has recent articles from hundreds, perhaps thousands, of newspapers from around the world. Before you can search for newspaper articles, you will need to choose appropriate "news categories" and "news sources" on the Guided News Search screen. If you are looking for articles from a particular newspaper, the easiest thing is to choose that paper from the Sources list at the top of the screen.

Provides selected full text (not every article) nearly 30 U.S. and international newspapers, including USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor, The Washington Post, The Times (London), along with more than 200 other American newspapers.

Newspapers in Microfilm

Alden Library has microfilm versions of thousands of newspapers from around the world, which are often not available online. The Microforms Collection is on the 1st floor of Alden Library.

In most cases, however, there are no indexes to these newspapers; you will need to know the approximate date of the newspapers you want, then browse the appropriate reels of microfilm to find what you're looking for.

The Microforms Collection has machines for viewing, printing, and scanning images on microforms.
