Find Books: Using the ALICE Online Catalog

The search box below covers the 5 most common types of searches in ALICE: Keyword, Author, Title, Subject, and Periodical Title. ALICE's front page provides many other types of searches.

ALICE is the name for Ohio University's library catalog. It is a database that lists the following kinds of items in our library collections:

  • books
  • periodicals (magazines, journals, and newspapers)
    • Note: ALICE is not an index to periodical articles. You can connect to whole electronic periodicals through ALICE, but to locate specific articles, look for article databases and indexes in InfoTree. Another good place to start looking for articles is in Academic Search Complete.
  • government documents
  • sound recordings
  • video recordings
  • electronic resources (databases, online journals, websites, etc.)
  • ...and much else besides
