How do I Find Articles from the Los Angeles Times?
The Los Angeles Times is available from many sources, not least including the daily paper copy available in the newspapers shelving area on the 4th floor of Alden Library. How to Search:
- To limit your search to the Los Angeles Times, first click on the "Sources" tab near the top of the screen.
- Then, on the right, type "Los Angeles Times" in the "Find a Source" box and press the "Go" button.
- Check the box that says only "Los Angeles Times" with nothing else added.
- Then click on the red "OK - Continue" button on the right side of the screen.
- You will return to the Power Search screen, where you can enter your search term(s), with "Los Angeles Times" listed as the source you are searching.

How to Search:
- For those years not covered by the full text sources listed above, use the Los Angeles Times index (1984 - 1993) to locate the date, sections, and pages of the desired articles. (Note: there is only one year of the index, 1984, which is not covered by one of the online sources listed above.)
- Load the appropriate reels of microfilm on the viewing equipment and browse the microfilm until you find the articles.
- For older articles, you need to determine the approximate date of the story you're seeking, then browse those dates of the microfilms.
