and Ebsco Databases
These instructions assume that you have searched an Ebsco Database and found some results that you wish to import into RefWorks.
Exporting References from an Ebsco Database
- From the Result List, click Add (to folder) for the records you want to import.
- Note the new section in the right sidebar of the screen, indicating that the "Folder has items." Also, the icon for each folder you click will change to an open folder. (Note that you can also add all the records on a page to a folder by clicking on the "Add (1-30)" link in the light blue area above the first record listed.")
- Click on Go to: Folder View.
- In the Folder List window, be sure that the records you wish to send to RefWorks are Selected.
- Click on the icon for the Export function.
- Be sure to select the Direct Export to RefWorks option.
- Click Save.
Importing References into RefWorks
After you click on the Save button in the Ebsco database you've been using, the RefWorks User Login page will automatically open.
- Enter your Log-in name
- Enter your Password
- Click Login
- After you have logged in, the RefWorks Import page will open.
- Click View Last Imported Folder to view your references.
- RefWorks wll display references in the Last Imported Folder window.
- For information about searching and sorting your citations or about creating and organizing folders, click the RefWorks Help link.
- These three options will let you:
- View the complete citation as it has been imported into RefWorks
- Edit the citation
- Check to see if the article is available via OhioLINK's OLinks system; you can use this option to quickly get back to the full article from inside RefWorks.
