Dean of Libraries, Scott Seaman

Friends of the Ohio University Libraries

The Friends' organization was formed in 1979 with the purpose of strengthening and enhancing the Libraries, and promoting it as the heart of the University. Over the years, Friends members have donated more than $200,000 in gifts to the Libraries--these contributions help fill the gap between state funding and the real cost of providing high quality collections and services to the University community.

As a Friend of Ohio University Libraries, members enjoy privileges otherwise reserved for students, faculty, and staff including:

  • Access to OhioLINK and borrowing rights for more than 20 million volumes in academic libraries across Ohio
  • Borrowing card privileges for books and materials in Alden Library
  • A subscription to Gatherings, our Friends' publication about activities and developments within the Library

Becoming a Friend

To become a Friend of the Libraries, complete and return the membership application or click into Online Giving.

  • Please designate University Libraries
  • Please list other gift designation as: Friends

Contributions to the Friends are fully tax-deductible. Memberships are $20 for students or seniors; $30, $50, $100, $200, $500 or more for regular members.

"The Friends are vital to Ohio University's Libraries, providing exceptional support and advocacy to maintain and enhance the Libraries' place at the heart of the University."
