This conference has two parts. The first several dozen topics
offer many opportunities for seeking and getting specific
information from other organizations and individuals working on
Indonesia. We therefore suggest you download the index of the
conference and keep the list of these first several dozen topics
always by your side. The topic titles won't disappear if you
don't do this, but your memory alone won't suffice if you want to
get full benefits from this conference.
Now, this is really important! These first several dozen topics
basically comprise an information exchange. Anyone who can add
information or wants to post a request for information to any of
these topics at any time is encouraged to do so. In fact, the
success of this part of the conference rests wholly on those using
it posting responses to the topics.
It is easy to post a response to these topics! One quick way is
simply to type the topic number from your downloaded list and then
hit <RETURN>. Then type the string command meaning "write a reply
by conferencing to the topic just read." That command on most of
these networks is ,wrc (begins with the comma, ends with the
letter c). Then just follow the network prompts.
The second set of topics consists of news stories about Indonesia.
Here the news stories are the topics. Anyone may enter a news
story. You'll be prompted to give your entry a title (in effect,
a headline) once you've sent it for posting. Have an informative,
catchy headline ready!
Now, this is really important! As we all know, news stories on
Indonesia aren't always accurate. Or they're incomplete. Or they
commit gaffes. And so on. Here's how to handle these problems.
If you're posting, or just reading a particular news story, and
think it requires a comment, correction, clarification, even
refutation, post any of these as a response to that story.
It is easy to do this! You do it the same way as you post a
response to the other part of the conference. One quick way is
type the topic (news story) number, then using the string command
,wrc and thereafter follow the network prompts.
Please hit <RETURN> now for some very important guidelines on
posting news stories!
