Some suggestions for assisting in development of priorities and
fact-finding aid on Indonesian environmental problems:

1. Consult Indonesian groups like Walhi, Skephi, YLBHI,
YPMD-Irja. Some are affiliated with INGI, some not. It's
important to get views of all sides. For new government
regulations bearing on the environment, YLBHI may currently be a
very good source, but its materials will come in Indonesian. Some
relevant government regulations are published in the English
edition of the Indonesian periodical Business News.

2. Look at available English-language publications focusing on
Indonesian environmental issues. Some examples: Environesia,
Setiakawan, Voice of Nature, Down to Earth. An excellent
Indonesian-language source for Irian Jaya is Kabar dari Kampung
(News from the Villages).

3. Visit reg.indonesia conference regularly for current news
stories relating to the environment.

4. Some current resource persons online with the APC networks
include apurnomo (PeaceNet), jscherr (PeaceNet), edf (EcoNet),
rkutcha (EcoNet), terrausdc (EcoNet), westernlaw (EcoNet),
survival (GreenNet), ecologist (GreenNet), tapol (GreenNet),
gmarshall (currently GreenNet, usually Pegasus), awood (Pegasus).
These contacts will lead to many others. More Indonesian
specialists will come online in the near future.
