Libraries' Mission Statement

The Libraries support the University's mission of discovering, transmitting, and preserving knowledge by providing access to information through such means as: building, organizing, managing, housing, and preserving collections; designing appropriate technologies for retrieving and manipulating information; providing personalized reference services, and teaching clients how to find, evaluate, and use information independently.

Focusing on the needs of the client, we offer innovative services which ensure easy and rapid access to information resources, whether locally or remotely held, regardless of format, in the Information age, this means that we place increasing emphasis on the most up-to-date access tools and delivery systems, while recognizing the importance of developing local collections and preserving recorded knowledge for future use.

Also fundamental to our mission is educating our patrons to be knowledgeable in the processes of information seeking and the skills necessary for lifelong learning. We provide faculty and student with opportunities to understand the organization of information and search strategies and to develop critical research skills.
