Ballenger argues that the research personal essay is the best vehicle for teaching research and writing. He outlines details of classroom activities and assignments that increase the effectiveness of the research assignment.

Gradowski, Gail , Loanne Snavely, and Paula Dempsey, eds. Designs for Active Learning: A Sourcebook of Classroom Strategies for Information Education. Chicago: Association of College and Research Libraries, 1998.
Offers activities for basic library instruction, research strategies, evaluating resources, discipline-oriented assignments (science, art, more), etc. Has a disk with handouts, forms, teaching aids. Lists time required, size of class, preparation, detailed class instructions.

Jacobson, Trudi, ed. Critical Thinking and the Web: Teaching Users to Evaluate Internet Resources. Pittsburgh: Library Instruction Publications, 2000.
Similar to the ACRL book in style, but aimed solely at the Web and critical thinking. Also comes with a disk.
