The Academic Advancement Center (AAC) helps faculty attain retention and academic success of their students by providing individual and group tutoring services to undergraduates. Faculty can reserve the AAC computer lab for individual or group training in computer applications required by their disciplines. The AAC recruits student tutors through faculty referrals.

The Academic Advancement Center offers all undergraduate students a variety of support services--credit courses, tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, math lab, computer lab, and the CAP program--to help them attain academic excellence.

The Center for Writing Excellence is responsible for the university writing program. The CWE includes the Writing-Across-the-Curriculum program, the Student Writing Center, and the collaboration with the Project for Curricular Innovation. The CWE supports innovative teaching and learning through writing by conducting workshops and brown bag discussion series, sharing of resource materials, and through individual consultations. Writing tutoring and waiver exams for writing courses.

Computer Services offers online and instructor-led computer training and test scoring/faculty evaluation services (593-1010) for administrators and faculty. Computer Services offers the following services to students: educational testing, online computer training, and public computer labs.

The Division offers instructional and administrative support for faculty who develop and teach courses in a variety of non-traditional distance-delivered formats, including print-based and online independent learning and term-based online programs. Community and Professional Programs assists faculty who are organizing workshops or conferences on the campus. Undergraduate and graduate credit courses and programs are offered in a variety of formats that are flexible in time and place, as well as several hundred online courses for certification or personal development.

The Media Library contains around 40,000 audio and visual media titles, in various formats such as VHS, DVD, and CD-ROM. Use these materials to enhance and support classroom instruction. Materials may also be assigned for students to view outside class.

Equipment Loan manages a limited amount of portable audiovisual equipment that can be reserved on a first come first served basis. There are no charges if equipment is used by University faculty for direct classroom academic credit use.

Media Library materials are available for general use to any Ohio University student or staff member. Onsite Preview Rooms provide individual and classroom viewing.

Equipment can be rented for use by University-related organizations, conferences, workshops, and for administrative and research functions.

The Alden Library offers a variety of instructional support services. The Library's web site is a gateway to databases, library catalogs, electronic texts, and other services. Librarians serve as subject bibliographers and are available to consult and assist with integration of information resources with instruction and learning projects.

Advocates and manages research for the institution.

The staff of the VP for Research Planning unit assist in locating internal and external funding sources, preparing proposals, negotiating award terms and conditions, complying with federal and state guidelines which govern research activities, publicizing research and creative activities of the Ohio University community, and protecting intellectual property. Internal funding programs, help in proposal preparation, and guidance in complying with state and federal regulations regarding the use of human and animal subjects in research.
