BLACK ABOLITIONIST PAPERS, 1830-1865.
This set collects 14,000 writings of approximately 300 black Americans between 1830 and 1865 involved in the movement to end slavery in the United States. BRITISH AFRICA: CONFIDENTIAL U. S. STATE DEPARTMENT CENTRAL FILES.
The "Central Files", record group 59, are from the Department of State's Internal and Foreign Affairs subject classifications of the Central Files (Decimal Files) now housed in the National Archives. These files consist of instructions and correspondence received from and sent to diplomatic posts abroad and include a wide range of materials reporting on political, military, social and economic developments, minutes, interviews, texts of letters and instructions, and translations of foreign documents.
These files cover, working south: Gambia, Sierra Leone, Gold Coast (Ghana), Togoland and Cameroons (mandates), Nigeria, Anglo-Egyptian Sudan, British Somaliland, Uganda, Kenya, Tanganyika, Nyasaland, Norther Rhodesia, Southern Rhodesia, Bechuanaland (Botswana), and Swaziland and Basutoland (Protectorates). The Library has the following series:

BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL RHETORIC AND ELOCUTION,
1500-1900. This is a set of 117 works compiled by the Speech Association of America consisting of British rhetoric written in English or Latin and Continental rhetoric written in Latin, French, or Italian on the ancient arts of persuasion and eloquence. Consult with staff during day; an author title listing (better than the reel guide) can be found in Niles, An Index to Microform Collections, Vol 1, pg. 84 (Z1033.M5 I53 1984). 16 rolls microfilm. BRITISH DOCUMENTS ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS;

is rather massive bound volume series in the stacks. ALICE can provide details, but not a quick listing of the whole series which has been published in the broad categories outlined below (some still on-going) and consists of compilations of diplomatic reports, dispatches, and telegrams printed for limited circulation within the British government. Documents have been selected and reproduced. The original F.O. desigination and confidential print numbers remain for reference purposes (and useful for locating more materials in microfilm collections). Materials selected for filming are from the Index of English literary manuscripts (4 vols. in 9 parts; London: Mansell ; New York : Bowker, 1980- ) Reference Z6611.L7 I5 Microfilm and printed guides, Micro Z6611.L7 B73. The guides for series one are little more than roll contents. However the first roll of Series 1, part 1, contains detailed catalog entries for all manuscripts reproduced on rolls 1-53 (Series 1 Parts 1-3). The guides for series 2 and 3 provide abstracts and detailed information about each of the manuscripts reproduced.
BRITISH LITERARY MANUSCRIPTS from the CAMBRIDGE University Library.
(Series One, The Medieval Age, 1150-1500). The Library has Series One, Parts 1-3. The guide lists the roll contents by Manuscript class number. For more details one will need to consult A Catalogue of the Manuscripts Preserved in the Cambridge Library of the University of Cambridge (Cambridge 1856-67; Kraus reprint 1980.) The Ohio State University and the University of Cincinnati have copies.
