S. policy, the Office of Strategic Services and the State Department commissioned leading scholars to write special reports. These reels contain declassified research reports in regards to communism in China ranging from "Leadership and Program of the Chinese Communists" (1944) to "Mao Tse-tung's 'Secret Speech'" (1957), the establishment of Pakistan, the rise of self-government in India, and other reports on economic, political, social and military conditions of the area.

INDOCHINA: CONFIDENTIAL U. S. STATE DEPARTMENT CENTRAL FILES.
The "Central Files", record group 59, are from the Department of State's Internal and Foreign Affairs subject classifications of the Central Files (decimal files) now housed in the National Archives. These files consist of instructions and correspondence received from and sent to diplomatic posts abroad and include a wide range of materials reporting on political, military, social and economic developments, minutes, interviews, texts of letters and instructions, and translations of foreign documents. hese files cover the Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos region. INDONESIA. KITLV INDONESIA MICROFICHE PROJECT.
One copy of the microfiche produced by the Dutch Royal Institute of Linguistics and Anthropology (KITLV) is deposited at Ohio University. The KITLV has microfiched over 25,000 Indonesian social studies and humanities publications of all types. Locating specific material is a bit tricky, hence the Ohio University Library is cataloging this material through a "Major Microforms Project" grant. Contact the staff at the Southeast Asia Collection for access to this growing collection. Increasingly access to individual titles will be available through ALICE.

INTERNATIONAL GENEALOGICAL INDEX (IGI),
(Family History Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1988). This set comprises 9,232 microfiche containing 121 million records of births, marriages, christenings, etc., for deceased individuals world-wide. Set is subdivided by geographical region, arranged by names, indexes and instructions on fiche. For more current information, see our Genealogy Research Guide.

INTERNATIONAL JOINT COMMISSION (IJC). REPORTS.
In 1972 the United States and Canada signed the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement which greatly enhanced the functions of the IJC. The microfiche collection contains over 300 titles of the Reports from 1972-1985 issued by the IJC itself, as by the Great Lakes Water Quality Board, the Great Lakes Science Advisory Board, and other allied committees. INTERNATIONAL POPULATION CENSUS PUBLICATIONS

Series I, 1945-1967; Series II, pre-1945; Series III, post-1967. Each series has a guide, at Micro Desk. Penciled in the margins of the table of contents of the guide for Series I are the complete holdings of the Library, including material before 1945 and after 1977. The Library has partial holdings for Central America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Southeast Asia. Note list below. Census publications are abstracts and general discussions of population counts and demographic trends, e.g. statistics on age, sex, occupation, literacy, immigration, rural-urban migration, etc. The microfilm is kept as a set under Microfilm 27, arranged alphabetically by country and date. Also check ALICE, for the Library also holds censuses in their original form; and, some may be in other sets such as the British Sessional Papers, collections of government archives of specific countries, etc. NOTE: Items are in the process of being cataloged on an individual basis, the cataloged material is being kept with the bulk of the collection, Microfilm 27. One of the U. S. Central Intelligence Agency's mandates has been to produce foreign intelligence reports to meet the needs of the President, National Security Council, etc. The result has been a diverse body of documentation. The material consists of reports, intelligence memos and biographical reports. This collection is arranged by country, then chronologically, and also includes Australia, Burma, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand and the Philippines. The Jesuits kept detailed records about their travels and observations in what is now New England and the Great Lakes region of U. S. and Canada (New France). These writings provide a rich resource for material, the set contains the original French, Latin, and Italian texts plus English translations, notes, and a exhaustive analytical index. JOURNALISM AND POLITICS.
Series One: The papers of C. P. Scott, 1846-1932. Part one, Political Diaries, 1911-1928 and Correspondence, 1870-1932. C. P. Scott was editor of the MANCHESTER GUARDIAN, bringing the paper to the ultimate in journalistic standards. The 'Political Diaries' are a record of meetings and lunches with major players of events for the period. These and 4,000 letters in his complete general correspondence read like a who's who of late nineteenth and early twentieth century politics. Well documented issues include the Russian Revolution, struggles in South Africa, World War I, Irish independence, women's suffrage, Zionism, rise of British Labour Party, and independence movements in the colonies. 22 rolls microfilm and printed guide, PN5123.S3 A2 1991x. The guide lists reel contents and has a detailed list of correspondents; reel one has some supplemental listings.
