Health Sciences Library launches Go Local Ohio – Southeast
Thursday, April 20th, 2006The Health Sciences Library of Alden Library at Ohio University in conjunction with the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health has launched a new health services database for Southeastern Ohio.
This database, Go Local Ohio-Southeast, can be accessed from the MedlinePlus health topic pages as well as the OU Health Sciences Library website. It will take users to information about health services in their local geographic areas, including hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, support groups, health screening providers and many others. The user can link directly from each MedlinePlus health topic to services related to that particular topic.
Go Local Ohio – Southeast consists of 18 counties: Athens, Belmont, Gallia, Guernsey, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton, and Washington.
Go Local Ohio – Southeast offers access to information of local health services, providers and programs serving residents of Southeastern Ohio. Through its connection with MedlinePlus, a service of the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health users of the site can get information about conditions, diseases and wellness, and link to web sites of local health services, programs and providers throughout Southeastern Ohio. Go Local Ohio – Southeast offers an initial collection of more than 2500 web sites from the eighteen Southeastern Ohio counties.
