Friends of the Libraries Sponsor Discussion on “The Friends of Women?”

The Friends of the Libraries of Ohio University are sponsoring a panel discussion on “The Friends of Women?” The program will take place on Tuesday, February 27 beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the Friends of the Library Room (Alden 319).

The panelists are Ann Brown, Director, Office of Nationally Competitive Awards, Honors Tutorial College; Phyllis Bernt, Chair of the Faculty Senate; Kathleen Bonte, Women in Philanthropy Initiative and advisor for Chi Omega sorority; and Judith Grant, Director of the Women’s Studies Program. Friends of the Libraries program chair Catherine Brown will moderate the panel.

“During the University’s Year of the Woman,” says Brown, chair of the Friends’ Program Committee. “we are interested in discussing the ways women are influencing or can influence the institution. I’m confident this can be a lively program.”

Through Brown’s program Ohio University students won several prestigious research awards including one each George Mitchell, Barry Goldwater and Morris Udall awards in 2006. Bernt also serves as Professor in the McClure School of Information and Telecommunication Systems, Scripps College of Communication. Bonte is Senior Director of Donor Relations and Gift Administration in the Development Office. Grant has a joint appointment as director of Women’s Studies and Professor of Political Science.

The Friends of the Libraries were established in 1979 to provide support for library collections and operations.

Printing now availblabe from personal laptops

Students using personal laptop computers (Windows XP or Windows 2000
only) with wireless or ethernet connections can login and print by
following the procedure outlined below:

  1. Click on this link and run the application Map Printers.
  2. Once the application is running
    • Click on the “Map printer…” button to map the printer on the selected floor, or
    • Click on “Release my print jobs” button to release your print job, which will open a web page and allow you to select and authenticate your print job. Note: If you don’t see your print jobs, click the “refresh” button.
  3. Click on “View my print history” button to check your print history.
  4. Only one printer at a time will map including the vended color
    printer. The application removes currently mapped printers when mapping
    a new one.
