Special Types of Library Materials

The guidelines below apply to all types of borrowers: students, faculty, staff, etc.

Course Reserve Materials

Loan Period Renewals Fines
Two-hour (use in the building only)No$1.00/hour or fraction thereof;
25¢ for each additional hour, up to $5.00/day;
$25.00 maximum

Periodicals

Unbound (individual issues) May not be checked out.
Bound volumes in Alden or Music/Dance Library For all borrowers except faculty, due back by noon the following day. Faculty may borrow bound periodicals from these collections for three (3) days.
Bound volumes from the Reserve Collection Due back one hour after opening the following day.
Bound volumes from the Library Annex Due back in 5 days.

Special Charge Materials (Maps, Microforms, etc.)

Loan period Overnight, or as otherwise designated
Overdue Fines $1.00 for first hour or fraction thereof;
25¢ for each additional hour or fraction, up to $3.00 per day;
$15.00 maximum per item

Non-Print Media

DVDs, CDs, cassettes, diskettes, and other non-book media that are published in association with a book may be borrowed for the same loan period as the accompanying book.

When not published in association with a book, DVDs, CDs, cassettes, diskettes, etc. have more limited loan periods:

Music/Dance Library
  • Cassettes: 2 week loan
  • CDs: 3 week loan
  • DVDs: 1 week loan
  • Microforms: Library use only
  • VHS: 1 week loan
Media Library (2nd floor of Alden)
  • Undergraduate students: 2-day loan; one renewal possible
  • Graduate students, faculty, and staff: 1 week loan; one renewal possible
