Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service provided by the University Libraries (Athens) to obtain research materials not available from our physical or electronic collections or via OhioLINK borrowing. Additionally, we lend the University Libraries materials to other libraries.

Ohio University students, faculty, and staff from the Athens campus are eligible for use of these services at no cost. We also serve Friends of the Libraries and authorized Loansome Doc patrons. All ILL users are required to comply with our policies and procedures.

If you are searching for journal literature and it is not available to you electronically through one of our full text services, make a request using the ILLiad Request Form. Notification of availability and instructions for viewing will be sent to your Ohio University email address.

To request books not available in Alden, the Annex, or through Intercampus or OhioLINK borrowing, you may use the ILLiad request form.

First time borrowers will need their PID to register.

How long will it take for my request to arrive?

The average time for an article is 5 days, with many arriving in as few as 2 days.

Borrowed materials arrive in Alden normally within 2 weeks of your request. Many borrowed items can be renewed.

The length of time it takes generally depends on the type of material you request, how many copies are available and from where, the speed of the lending library, and shipping time.
