Carrels for Faculty and Graduate Students

Quiet Study Areas

Designated quiet study areas are located on the 1st, 3rd and 5th floors. In addition, study carrels located along the walls on the 6th and 7th floors provide relatively quiet study areas.

The Government Documents Department on the fifth floor is a "deep quiet" floor where talking is very limited and cell phones should be turned off before entering the department.

Reading Lounges

Soft seating configurations for "leisure" reading are located in the Learning Commons (2nd floor), the Health Sciences Library (3rd floor), the northeast corner of the 4th floor, and at the east and west ends of the 6th floor.

Scholars' Room

An alcove in the east wing of the 7th floor has been designated as a special area for gathering a collection of materials, mostly collections of primary texts, relating to classical and medieval scholarship. In ALICE, this area is indicated as: Alden 7th Fl Scholars' Room.
