Group Study Rooms

Students in group study roomAlden Library has 13 small rooms on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th floors for short-term use by any group of patrons . We also have several designated Quiet Areas and a limited number of carrels available.

  • Groups may obtain immediate access to any unoccupied group study room by asking at the appropriate service desk (see below).
  • Groups may make reservations up to 7 days in advance by going to ouor Group Study Rooms Reservations page. Reservation periods are for 3 hours, but may be extended if there are no succeeding reservations or requests for use.
  • An individual may request, at the service desk, to use an unoccupied group study room. However, a group will take precedence over an individual at any time.
  • A reserved room will be held for 15 minutes beyond the start time of the reservation; if unclaimed for use by the reserving group after 15 minutes, the room will be made available to other users.

First Floor

Second Floor

Photo of group study roomsThe second floor (Learning Commons) has 9 group study rooms: one of them is for groups up to four; all of the others are for groups up to eight. All of the rooms have tables, chairs, and a whiteboard; all of the eight-person rooms also have projectors for connecting to laptop computers.

These rooms may be reserved and used for three-hour blocks of time either online or by phoning 593-2699 or inquiring at the Learning Commons service desk. You will need your Ohio University ID card to get the key to these rooms. You may also check out a remote control and cable for the LCD projector, if you will be needing to use it with a laptop computer.

Rollins Room for Student Leadership (2nd floor)

The Rollins Room, a specially equipped meeting room, is available by reservation for presentation practice in a group setting or meetings of groups promoting the development of student leadership skills. For availability, call 593-2699 or 593-2665.

Fourth Floor

The fourth floor has one large group study room, adjacent to the Current Periodicals area. To find out about availability and to make reservations, check our Group Study Rooms Reservations page.
