Published approximately every five years, this data source presents a variety of statistical information for states, counties, cities (of 25,000 or more), and places (of 2,500 or more). In the 2000 edition, 191 statistical items are included for states and counties and 103 items for cities. For places, only area and population data are given. Included in the Appendices are maps showing Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA's) within each state. The latest edition is also available online at http://purl.access.gpo.gov/GPO/LPS31661.
