This guide offers recommendations in addition to those found on the Industry Research Basics page. International industry information can be tricky, as we don’t have a resource as comprehensive as IbisWorld or S&P Industry Surveys for every nation in the world. However, in piecing together information for an analysis of another country's industry, the resources below may help.

STAT-USA

  • Once you open the database, click on the Globus&NTDB Link. Then look under the Market& Country Research. You can browse by country in each area.

Business Source Complete

  • Has a lot of Datamonitor reports for various industries in each country. The reports are not very extensive, but do offer a decent introduction. Simply search for the country name and the industry in the keyword boxes. You might then limit the results to Industry Reports.

LexisNexis

  • One way to get good information about an industry is to look at local newspapers. Newspaper articles from the country's newspapers might give you a good idea about the industry. To do this, select News in LexisNexis, then search by keyword and limit to your country.

Factiva

  • Factiva works similarly to LexisNexis in that it is a good way to look for articles in international newspapers. Also search by keyword and limit by country.

GMID

  • You might be able to find statistics on your industry in GMID, which tends to give you sales figures for consumer and service markets. You can compare a number of markets with a number of different countries.

Encyclopedia of Global Industries

  • Offers a fairly broad overview of some of the larger international industries.
