What Happened to the WSJ?
If you are looking for the Wall Street Journal Online, access to this resource has changed. The Wall Street Journal Online will no longer be available through Proquest, as it is now available through Factiva.
Factiva contains the Wall Street Journal in addition to another ~9,000 publications. Our rationale in this change was mostly financial. Without going into details, Factiva offers a lot more bang for the buck. One minor drawback is that our subscription to Factiva allows only three simultaneous users, whereas the Proquest version of WSJ allowed unlimited users.
Where is Factiva?
Factiva may be found in various secions of InfoTree. You may search for Factiva as a keyword in InfoTree, and you may find it as a Top Pick in the following InfoTree subject areas:
Finding the WSJ in Factiva
To browse current articles
- First go to the Factiva Database.
- Select the "News Pages" tab at the top of the page.
- Then, select "United States" in the drop-down box in the left corner of the page.
- The Wall Street Journal should be in the list of papers on the right.
- You may browse the papers by date, and also by the section of the newspaper.
To search for topics within the WSJ
- When you first arrive in Factiva, you will be on the Search Builder screen. If you ever lose your way, you may return to the Search Builder screen at any time by clicking on the "Search" tab at the top of the page.
- To find the Wall Street Journal, click on the "+" sign next to Source.
- Search for Wall Street in the box.
- Next, click on the Wall Street Journal to add it to your search.
- Finally, enter your keywords in the full-text search box, or use the other search features if you wish.
