Two Market Database Trials

Tuesday, September 14th, 2004

My phone has been ringing off the hook lately with vendors offering “special deals” and trials. While we currently do not have a great deal of wiggle room with the acquisitions budget, I almost never pass up a trial run of anything. Therefore, I invite you to look at two market research databases to see what types of information are available. Please email me with your comments.

—————————————————–

1. Global Market Information Database

We currently subscribe to two of the four components that are available through GMID. You can follow this link to get to the database. When you open the database, the Sources and Market Reports are the sections that we DO NOT currently subscribe to. The trial for these reports will go through the end of the week.

2. MarketResearch.com Academic

Access MarketResearch.com Academic at the URL
www.academic.marketresearch.com
> Your username and password are case sensitive:
> username: ohiou
> password: ohiotrial
This trial lasts through the end of the month.

The vendor’s description:
“Market Research.com Academic is the market research collection designed for universities and colleges from the MarketResearch.com publishers – Packaged Facts, Kalorama Information, Specialists in Business Information and MarketLooks. Every year we are inundated with student requests for our market research reports. These reports were previously unavailable to the academic community due to the high cost of production. MarketResearch.com Academic is the first service to provide desktop access to valuable reports for a nominal investment. MarketResearch.com Academic gives libraries, students and faculty access to our full-text reports and abstracts, including every graph, chart and table. Currently we have approximately 550 full-length market research reports, with more added daily. Designed for academic projects, these detailed reports (hundreds of pages each) will assist students and faculty at business schools and undergraduate business programs. Find the reports you want, read them online, print them out or download them. Full-length market research reports are embargoed for 12 months before adding them to the site, however MarketLooks are available upon publication.

MarketLooks (a bonus value of approximately $400 per report) are a concise, graphic-rich PowerPoint presentation of full-length market research reports. Each MarketLooks contains: major research findings, market size and forecasts, market share information, competitive profiles, distribution trend analyses, demographic analysis and much more. Excerpted from reports that cost thousands of dollars, MarketLooks are currently free with a subscription to MarketResearch.com Academic. We have over 250 MarketLooks reports on the site.”
