Instant Messaging Survey

Friday, May 27th, 2005

Many business students have contacted me directly via Instant Messaging over the past couple of quarters. IM has been a great way for students to request help, and for me to deliver research assistance. The Reference Department is currently investigating ideas about providing reference services via instant messaging. To get input from the University community, we currently have a survey linked from the library home page. Please take a moment to take the survey and give us your thoughts about IM and library services.

Good Tutorial For Company Research

Friday, May 27th, 2005

Every now and then I like to surf the web to see what other business librarians are doing. This morning I stumbled across a very nice tutorial from the Penn State University Business Library. The purpose of the tutorial is to “to perform an analysis of a specific company using specially focused questions and a variety of databases.” I must say that it does a very nice job. One really cool thing about the tutorial is that it walks you through how to search a variety of different databases. Since we subscribe to a number of the databases discussed, this tutorial could be of value to OHIO business students.
