Tips, Tricks, and Tools for the Business Researcher

MIT’s Dewey Research Advisor

MIT Libraries has a resource callled the Dewey Research Advisor. The advisor, currently in beta release, lists common research questions and points to resources to help find the answers. This is a good model for a business research FAQ, and is definitely worth a look. I’ve seen several questions and answers in the guide that I get asked several times a quarter. It appears that Wharton uses an identical system, only they call it the Business FAQ. I’ve tried to incorporate something like this in the Biz Wiki, and both of these resources give me some new ideas to consider.

Hi Chad – These are indeed great resources, thanks for the post! Just wanted to mention that the software being used to create the Wharton FAQ is being shared with other schools, you may wanto to look into it. Of course, the BizWiki, as you mention, already serves some of the same purposes. And there’s an article about it forthcoming in the Journal of Business & Finance Librarianship. For more info on the Wharton FAQ, see here: http://datafarm.library.upenn.edu/pennlibraryfaq/faqmain.htm.
    Cheers! Charles
