Just breezed past to check out what other academic libraries are doing to facilitate access to resources which can’t be handled by your average content management system…. LOVE the Wiki approach; gives fantastic reach to the subject/liaison librarian, promotes a personal touch in service provision, and uses current webspace practices to draw in the little darlings.
My institution is about to ‘decommission’ a heap of subject specific web pages we set up to help students navigate to our online databases; the theory being that our new ‘one stop shop’ resources portal will be able to duplicate the function of the subject pages. We who created and maintained these pages have our doubts (the new software isn’t performing to expectation either, which isn’t helping things), and are seeking new ways to offer guided access …
