About CommWiki
From CommWiki
The purpose of the CommWiki is to deliver library information specific to the field of communications and mass media including recommended library resources, research guides and frequently asked communications research questions.
Wiki format enables the creation of an updated version of a traditional library subject guide or pathfinder, which have very useful information, but are static in nature and difficult to update. The advantage of the CommWiki is that it is not only easier to organize & update but searchable.
This wiki primarily serves the students, faculty and staff in the Scripps College of Communication which includes the schools of Journalism, Information and Telecommunication Systems, Communication Studies, Media Arts and Studies and Visual Communication, though anyone interested in Communications research may find this wiki useful.
Use the CommWiki to find articles about reference books, databases, websites, and other research tools as well as tips on mass media and communications research. Some of the recommended resources in this wiki are freely available on the Internet, while items such as subscription databases are only available to current Ohio University students, faculty and staff (OAK id and login required to access). Print items are available through Ohio University Libraries or OhioLINK.*
The CommWiki was created by Char Booth and Diana Nichols, librarians at Ohio University with subject expertise in various areas of communication and media studies. Char Booth is the Communication Studies, Media Arts and Studies, and Information and Telecommunication Systems subject specialist, and Diana Nichols is the Journalism subject specialist. Please feel free to contact us with any questions about the content or design of this wiki.
Another great feature of the CommWiki is that anyone can edit it. That's right, this is a library resource that Ohio University students, faculty, staff, and other librarians can contribute to. For more information about using the wiki, take a look at the the help page.
* For non-Ohio University users, try your local academic or public library.
