ALICE – Search the Online Library Catalog

Use ALICE to find books in Alden library or in OhioLINK, or to search for issues of journals and magazines. The ALICE catalog is not meant for finding individual articles - the section on research databases will go over the best way to do that.

  • Keyword Searching:
    • Searches for words in the title, subject headings, and book description
    • Use AND and OR to separate search phrases, such as media AND remediation
    • Limit your search by date range or material type
    • Use * to truncate your search terms – digit* finds digital, digitized, and digitally
  • Subject Searching:
    • Searches librarian-created descriptors used to classify books
    • Example: Digital media or Technology -- social aspects
    • If your book is checked out, try an intercampus/annex request, OhioLINK, or Interlibrary Loan.
