ComAbstracts, a project of the Communication Institute for Online Scholarship, is an article database providing comprehensive coverage of the "first line scholarship" in communication disciplines.

Search Tips:

Combine search terms with AND to search for articles with both of those search terms.
Combine search terms with OR to find articles with either search term (or both).
Combine search terms with NOT to search for articles that contain the first term, but not the second.
Combine search terms with XOR to search for articles with either search term, but not both.
Used the Advanced Search to choose whether to search for keywords, authors, titles, or author affiliation, or to search a specific journal.

Locating Articles:

ComAbstracts does not have the OLinks connection so you will have to go back to the library catalog to see if we have a copy of the journal article:
Note the citation for the article you want.
- Example: Buchanan, Lindal (2006). A study of maternal rhetoric: Anne Hutchinson, monsters, and the antinomian controversy Rhetoric Review. 25 (3), 239-259. (Name of journal is in bold)
- Search ALICE for the journal title to see if we have a paper or electronic version. Rhetoric Review is available in the Ohio Link Electronic Journal Center.
  - If the journal is available online, click on the name of the database and on the next page, choose the volume or year that you need (In this case the year is 2006, the volume is 25, issue 3). You should then have a table of contents and be able to access the article in full text.
- If the journal is in the library in paper, you can either find a copy in the stacks, or use the Document Delivery service to get a copy.
- If the journals is not available at all, you can also use the Document Delivery service to obtain a copy.
