Computers in the Library

Alden Library has 315 desktop PCs and 50 laptop computers for patron use, including 10 Macintosh desktops in the Multimedia Center in the Learning Commons. All of the PCs were upgraded in Summer 2008.
Computer Information:
- Laptop Loan Program: The library has 50 laptops that OU patrons may check out for three hours use in the library only. The laptops are free to checkout, but are subject to overdue fines and replacement costs in the event of theft or damage. For more information, please see the laptop loan page.
- If you have your own laptop, you may connect to the university's wireless network anywhere in the building. For information about connecting to the OU wireless network, please see the Office of Information Technology wireless connection pages.

- As of August 25, 2008, all computer users will be required to log into the computer with their OU Oak ID and password. Computers with no mouse or keyboard activity will be automatically logged off after 15 minutes and personal items may be removed. Be sure to remember to log off the computer when you are finished.
