The following resources are good places to start when looking for an expert to interview for a news story or other journalism project. The sources listed in the General section include places to look for experts on various topics, while the Subject-specific section lists places to look for experts in a specific discipline. General Experts
- Experts.com includes authors, consultants, engineers, physicians, professors, scientists and other specialists for many fields.
- Yearbook of Experts, Authorities, and Spokespersons an online directory with details and contact information for experts on a variety of topics. Includes press releases from registered experts. There is also the original print version of this directory at the library.
- ExpertPages search for experts by topic and then narrow to U.S. state
- The Foundation for American Communications (FACS) conduct a topic search and find experts and seminars for journalists presented by experts on a variety of current topics
- GuestFinder a topical list of experts, with contact info for each
