ALICE

ALICE is the library's catalog and contains records for books, videos, journals, magazines, newspapers, microfilm, government documents and other items owned by the Ohio University Libraries. For more information about finding books and other resources in ALICE, please see the libraries page Find Books: Using the ALICE Online catalog.

If an item is listed as being at the Annex storage facility or another Ohio University campus library, click the Annex Request Button to request that the copy of the book be sent to Athens for your use. You will receive an email when the item is available for check out.

This three-minute tutorial will take you through the basics of using ALICE, the OU Libraries' online catalog.

TIP: Persistent links to each catalog record should be used when you want to electronically send a catalog record in an email, save a copy for yourself or blog about the item. See the example in this record.

OhioLINK

These short video tutorials will introduce you to the OhioLINK catalog, the catalog for a consortium of 86 Ohio college and university libraries.

With OhioLINK, you can

  • request materials that OU does not have
  • request items for which OU's copy(ies) are checked out

To check the Ohio Link catalog after you have searched in ALICE, click the Ohio Link Button. Your search will automatically be repeated in the Ohio Link catalog.

What's really great is that you can pick up items anywhere, at OU Libraries or any of the other OhioLINK member libraries (this is great if you are away from campus for the summer!)

TIP: Persistent links to each catalog record should be used when you want to electronically send a catalog record in an email, save a copy for yourself or blog about the item. See the example in this record.
