Potential Errors

Mozilla Firefox says it cannot open this .zip file

It is possible for the saved version of the toolbar to show up like: engrbar1.x.x.zip (engrbar1.0.8.zip for instance). When you try to open this file using Mozilla Firefox it will not be able to install the file. This is caused by downloading the file in a browser that is different from Mozilla Firefox. To fix this do the following:

  1. Delete the .zip file
  2. Open up Mozilla Firefox
  3. Download the file using Mozilla Firefox
  4. Follow the installation instructions

Toolbar appears to be broken

At the moment Firefox has an error built into it that can distort the toolbar display. If the toolbar scrunches up like either of the pictures below then there is a simple sequence of steps that you can use to fix it. A word of warning: if you have customized the toolbar area of your Firefox browser then you will want to take a screenshot and then recreate it after you reset the values.

This will fix the error so that the OU Engineering Toolbar will display properly in Firefox.

Special Instructions for Macintosh Users:

In order to open Firefox in Safe Mode, go to the Utilities menu and launch Terminal. Then type the following command at the Terminal prompt:

/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -safe-mode

Then, a new Safe Mode window will pop up; follow instructions as for Windows (above).
