Foundation for Human Rights in Guatemala -- The Foundation for Human Rights in Guatemala (Chicago) was created with a mission to educate, make known, monitor and be vigilant for the full respect of human rights. Their principal objective is to work for the complete fulfillment of the Global Accord on Human Rights, signed between the Guatemalan Revolutionary National Unity (URNG) and the government of Guatemala. Another objective of FHRG is to help demolish the wall of impunity that continues to exist in Guatemala.

Guatemalan Human Rights Commission/USA --The Guatemala Human Rights Commission/USA is a non-profit, humanitarian organization founded to monitor, document and report on the human rights situation in Guatemala. GHRC/USA also promotes advocacy for and aid to victims of human rights violations in Guatemala.

Human Rights Organizations in Guatemala: General -- This is a list of Guatemalan organizations, with a brief description of each and links to further information. It is presented by Peace Brigades International (PBI), an organization offering unarmed international protective accompaniment to individuals, organizations, and communities threatened with violence and human rights abuses.

Latin American Working Group --The Latin America Working Group (LAWG) is a coalition of over sixty religious, human rights, policy, grassroots and development organizations. Since 1983, the coalition has been striving for U.S. policies that promote peace, justice and sustainable development in the region. LAWG provides information to nongovernmental organizations, congressional offices, the media, and citizens concerned with U.S. policy towards Latin America.

National Security Archives Electronic Briefing Book No. 4: CIA and Assassinations: The Guatemala 1954 Documents --These documents, including an instructional guide on assassination found among the training files of the CIA's covert "Operation PBSUCCESS," were among several hundred records released by the Agency on May 23, 1997 on its involvement in the infamous 1954 coup in Guatemala.

National Security Archives Electronic Briefing Book No. 15: GUATEMALAN DEATH SQUAD DOSSIER: Internal Military Log Reveals Fate of 183 "Disappeared" --The army log reveals the fate of scores of Guatemalan citizens who were "disappeared" by security forces during the mid-1980s. Replete with photos of 183 victims and coded references to their executions, the 54-page document was smuggled out of the Guatemalan army's intelligence files and provided to human rights advocates in February, just two days before a UN-sponsored truth commission released its report on the country's bloody 35-year civil war.

NISGUA: Network in Solidarity with People of Guatemala --The Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala (NISGUA) was formed in 1981 to coordinate local activism on Guatemala in the United States. NISGUA is still one of the strongest and steadiest grassroots voices for responsible U.S. policy in the region.

Oficina de Derechos Humanos del Arzobispado de Guatemala (ODHAG) -- The Office of Human Rights of the Archbishopric of Guatemala (ODHAG) defends poor people who cannot afford a lawyer when their human rights have been violated. In Spanish.

Peace Brigades International: Guatemala Project -- PBI maintained a team in Guatemala from 1983 to 1999. Its activities included offering an unarmed international presence to Guatemalan individuals, organizations and communities threatened with violence and human rights abuses.

Rigoberta Menchu Tum Foundation --In Guatemala, the Foundation carries out projects directed at education, health care, and human rights, with an emphasis on citizen's civil rights.

Stefan Schmitt's Human Rights and Forensic Anthropology --Schmitt is one of the founders of the Guatemalan Forensic Anthropology Team - the Equipo(now: Fundación) de Antropología Forense de Guatemala (EAFG).

Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA) -- WOLA promotes human rights, demoocracy, and social and economic justice in Latin America by helping Latin American NGO's gain access to policy-making circles in Washington.
