Latin American Professional Interests

LASNET (Latin American Studies Network) is an unmoderated discussion list for Latinamericanists. This site includes instructions on how to subscribe to LASNET as well as a full-text archive of messages (plus some other materials at the University of Texas).

For a list of programs, associations and professional organizations in regards to Latin American Studies the LANIC Latin American Studies Institutions listing is a good place to start.

Amongst those cited above would be the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), the largest professional Association for individuals and institutions engaged in the study of Latin America. Congress papers on-line and other resources found on this site may be useful.

CALAFIA
is a consortium of California libraries. The combined Latin American holdings of the CALAFIA group number more than one million volumes.

CRL (Center for Research Libraries, Chicago)
CRL is an international not-for-profit consortium of colleges, universities and libraries that makes available scholarly research resources. Open to scholars and researchers, its outstanding collections include more than five million volumes of research materials rarely held in North American libraries.

LAMP
The Latin American Microform Project (Center for Research Libraries) acquires, preserves and maintains for its subscribers microform collections of unique, scarce, and bulky/voluminous research materials pertaining to Latin America.

SALALM
(Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials) The SALALM web page lists the names and links to Latin American Library pages, Latin American Bookseller Pages, The Ibero-American Booktrade, Statistics, and Trip Notes. You can also view some information on the organization and some sample programs and publications.

Library of Congress Office, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,
is one of six overseas offices administered by the African/Asian Acquisitions and Overseas Operations Division of the Library library of Congress whichacquire, catalog, preserve, and distribute library and research materials.

MOLLAS
The Midwest Organization of Libraries for Latin American Studies consists of libraries with Latin American Studies Collections from the Midwest region of the United States. MOLLAS promotes and develops member Latin American Studies resources through cooperative and collaborative projects.
