The Library's "InfoTree" database:
- This is a good place to start. Infotree is a subject-organized guide to the best research materials in all formats, including:
- links to electronic resources that either Ohio University or OhioLink receive by subscription
- links to other free web-based resources
- links library resources such a microform sets, subject guides, etc.
- There are two basic ways to search InfoTree. The InfoTree Home Page is
basically the top level of a subject hierarchy; follow the broad subject links there to get to more specific ones. There is also a word-search option. Here is a ready-made search in InfoTree for the term "Latin America."
"ALICE" is the name for Ohio University's library catalog.
- Consult ALICE to find and
locate specific books, periodical titles, media and electronic titles, etc. in the collections of the Ohio University Libraries. ALICE offers
a variety of ways to search for items.
Popular search engines:
- If you are looking for something specific, you can choose good key words and use general search engines such as Google. Be sure to take advantage of the advanced search features for "Google"

Another good place to start is to peruse the Latin America "mega sites" where links and resources have already been reviewed and sorted in categories. Here are some comprehensive sites.
Academic Info Academic Info is an annotated subject directory of Internet resources tailored to the university community.

Latin American Studies listing should be purused to get a good overview of types of internet resources
available.
Latin American Network Information Center (LANIC)
The homepage of UT-LANIC, "the world's premier electronic gateway to Latin America," is maintained by the Institute of
Latin American Studies (ILAS) at the University of Texas at Austin. This a site you must explore; it contains links to nearly 10,000 Websites on Latin
America. There is a country directory, broad subject directory and links to projects, consortia, library resources, data bases,
programs, current news, and numerous other resources. For a comprehensive search, look at both
the country oriented links as well the subject oriented links. In English or Spanish.
Molly Molloy's Internet Resources for Latin America This New Mexico State University Library site is a comprehensive listing of Latin American Internet resources of all types, including web sites, newsgroups, and reference sources. Mostly in list format, the whole guide is one
document so that the user can print or save it easily. The site includes the text of all the URLs so that the Guide can be used
as a printed reference. There is also a link to an excellent guide on "finding it on the Web." Check out the neat illustrations.
