Film Reviews pre-1980

Good places for older reviews (most of our current online databases cover 1980-present), see the Film Reviews section on the main FILM page for suggestions as to where you can find older reviews.

Other Sources pre-1980

  • A fun visual source is the the website, Ad*Access, developed at Duke University. It is a database of Advertising images from 1911-1955.
  • Although this is not a primary resource, it will provide a good snapshot of a decade, American Decades (was a print source, but we purchased online access). This is a great place to find information on each decade starting in 1900. It gives an overview of events from arts to government.
