Journals

Finding journal articles is best accomplished by using a database such as Business Source Premier, which contains over 3200 periodicals indexed and abstracted, with 2,700 full text, covering management, economics, finance, accounting and international business, among others. More than 200 of the journals have PDF full text back to 1965 or the first issue published. BSP contains PDF images for the great majority of journals; many of these PDFs are searchable and in color. During the summer of 2002 this database replaced ABI Inform as one of our best all-round article databases for business researchers.

A favorite place for researchers is Lexis Nexis Academic, a huge collection of full-text databases covering news, business, legal research, medicine, and reference. Lexis Nexis was formerly known as Academic Universe.

Another excellent database is Business and Industry, which indexes more than 1,000 of the world's most authoritative business publications, including trade and business journals, industry newsletters, and a broad collection of regional, national and international newspapers.

Another useful journal database is Academic Search Complete, which provides full text for more than 3,460 scholarly publications covering academic areas of study including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts and literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies and of course, sports. During the summer of 2002 this database replaced Periodical Abstracts as the best all-round article database for beginning researchers.

Below is a list of journals owned by Ohio University. Some are full text. In most cases, clicking on the link will give you a current record, from ALICE, of our holdings and location. This list is limited to those journals specific to sports industry. There are many other journals that may be useful to you. Do not limit yourself to these.
