Depository Agreement

Text of the Agreement Between the

Kingdom of Swaziland & Ohio University

Designating Ohio University as the United States Depository
for Publications from the Kingdom of Swaziland

To increase visibility and awareness of Swaziland among officials, researchers, corporations, and the citizens of the United States and to enrich the educational experience of students from Swaziland and elsewhere in North America, the Kingdom of Swaziland and Ohio University agree that the Ohio University Libraries will serve as the depository in the United States for publications from Swaziland.

To implement this agreement, the Government of Swaziland has designated the National Library Service of Swaziland as its representative. This representative of the Government of Swaziland will arrange to identify, collect and ship materials for the depository to the Ohio University Library at appropriate intervals.

To accomplish the goals of this agreement, Ohio University will undertake to publish news of this agreement and regularly publicize the existence of the depository to potential American audiences and will cooperate with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Swaziland to inform students from Swaziland of the existence of the depository and the availability of materials. Ohio University has designated the Ohio University Libraries as its representative to effect this agreement.

Moreover, Ohio University will see that the materials in the depository are entered into an appropriate national and international database to enable persons across the nation to be able to identify the resources in the depository. These materials will be available for consultation at Ohio University or may be borrowed through interlibrary loan.

It is further agreed that the designated representatives of the Kingdom of Swaziland and of Ohio University will periodically consult on further avenues of cooperation to improve library and information services in Swaziland and to increase access to information on Swaziland in North America and other areas of mutual benefit. The "Summary of Discussions," November 26-30, 1990, between the Director of the National Library Service of Swaziland and Ohio University representatives reflect the first such consultation, and the terms of such are hereby mutually accepted.
